AirSpy Training, together with SpectraLink, has announced the offering of Certified Wireless Networking Professional (CWNP) courses focused primarily on deploying voice applications on a wireless LAN.
The AirSpy and SpectraLink CWNP classes are planned to have an emphasis on deploying Wi-Fi telephony. This is a very important move made by CWNP and a right step in the few coming years? market. Wireless LANs, when designed, need to take into consideration the applications and devices being part of it. And we are witnessing the spread of the Wireless VoIP devices in the Wi-Fi hotspots. So, why not devote a course for VoWLAN? Since Cisco started delivering the good old 7920 IP handsets, the markets have been moving towards that direction for years. And as the VoIP devices over wired networks need special design considerations, VoWLAN need special design considerations too. The classes of these courses use a customized curriculum specially authorized by the CWNP program. And these courses are primarily CWNA courses but focused on VoWLAN. Of course these courses are available now in the US only as a start. And as I know, if it turns out well, these courses will be spread worldwide. Voice over Wireless LAN (VoWLAN) is one of the big things that no particular course cared about covering. Probably, these courses will evolve eventually to an independent certification from CWNP. CWNP took the first good move by being vendor-independent, and now they are making the second major good move with these courses.
